WHERE: Pendleton Art Center Studio 512, Cincinnati OH and Thompson Enamel - Complete “Glass on Glass” Classes, 650 Colfax Avenue, Bellevue, KY, 41073 In these classes you will learn to create from recycled and re purposed glass sources and special Thompson Enamels. Recycling “glass into Art” techniques will be taught by accomplished artist and sculptor, Joseph Drury. While these techniques can be applied to enameling on any surface, the primary focus will be on learning how to apply enamels to glass for the creation of Sculpture, Jewelry, Window Hangings, Bowl and Plate forms. These workshops are suitable for all students beginning through advanced. Beginning students learn safety, proper ways to apply and fire the enamel. Each student produces at least one art work per session! ALL MATERIALS are supplied for the workshops. Workshops are limited to 12 students per session.

Joseph F. Drury Artist's Statement 2014

I re form found and saved glass to create one of a kind, kiln-formed glass sculptures inspired by my years on and near the sea. The glass is recycled in a ceramic kiln by heating it in and over molds to a plastic state. This process re-forms and fuses the glass into new and wonderful shapes. Powdered glass enamels and fractured glass are fused to the glass sculpture to create brilliant color fields and patterns. The glass is then carefully cooled and annealed to remove all stress. This process takes at least 24 hours per sculpture. See and

Joseph F. Drury is an artist, sculptor, and instructor who has worked in glass, steel, and stone for ten years in Studio 512 at the Pendleton Art Center and currently produces abstracted kiln formed glass sculpture and objects of art. He holds a BFA in Sculpture from Syracuse University and has worked as an artist since 1964 in New York, Montreal, California, and Oregon. 

An active member artist at The 5th Street Gallery in Cincinnati, Drury's work has been shown in Cincinnati, OH at The Cincinnati Art Museum Store,  (CAM)  The Tower Place Gallery at the Carew Tower. He shows at The 5th Street Gallery, The Eisele Gallery of Fine Art, Indigenous Gallery, The Hyde Park Show, The Water Lily Gallery, and Studio 512. In Northern Kentucky he shows at Art on The Levee, Newport on the Levee, Virgil's Cafe, and The Fusion Gallery. in Eugene, OR he has shown at the Salon des Refus'es, 1995, 1996, 1997, The Hult Center for the Arts, and The Maude Kerns Art Center, The Downtown Garden, and The Sherman Gallery. Drury maintains a working studio 512, offering monthly access to the public, at the Pendleton Art Center.

Installations: the Kiln Formed Glass Sculptures "Seascape I" and "Seascape II" are in the collection of The W.W. Carpenter Enamel Foundation Museum in Bellevue, KY. Public Sculpture "Waterfall II" (winner of the "Outside Art 96" competition), originally sited on the Eugene Oregon Broadway Mall outside "The New Yorker Restaurant," is now in a private collection. "Outside Art 95" winner "Waterfall I" was also sited on the Broadway Mall by the Lane County Arts Council. Other works are found in public and private collections in London, Mumbai, Montreal, Vancouver, New York, Boston, Seattle, Eugene, San Francisco, L.A. Miami, Orlando, Palm Beach, Sarasota, Cincinnati, and at Northern Kentucky University. Images of recent work are available online at and at .

Drury offers instruction by appointment and through scheduled classes. Students create artwork from recycled, and repurposed kiln-formed fused glass. Classes are available for artist students who want to express in new media. Drury also teaches "Glass on Glass" enameling workshops at Thompson Enamel through the W.W. Carpenter Enamel Foundation Museum, Bellevue, KY.
