Winner of the second annual NKU Bands Solo Competition, Joe Drury began his musical education in Eugene, Oregon at age seven, with violin instruction from Yvonne Hsueh (currently the concert master of the Newport Symphony Orchestra in Newport, Oregon; Principal Second Violin with the Oregon Mozart Players; and member of the Eugene Symphony). After moving to the tri-state area in 1999, he joined the Cincinnati Boychoir before beginning to play the baritone and euphonium. In 2003 he began study under David L. Dunevant, Professor of Trombone and Euphonium at Northern Kentucky University. Drury performed in 2006 with the Northern Kentucky Senior High School Select Band as principal euphonium and was awarded a music scholarship by Northern Kentucky University. Drury is the principal euphonium of the Northern Kentucky University Symphonic Winds, and recently he performed with the Kentucky Intercollegiate Band in Louisville, Kentucky
