Glass on Glass Workshops - Enameling and Kiln Forming Glass


INTRODUCTORY GLASS CLASSES for the creation of Jewelry, Ornaments, Window and Wall hangings now offered  at  "Art on The Levee", Newport on the Levee for individuals, and groups ( by appointment.) These classes are designed to excite students of all ages about the wonders of working with Thompson Glass Enamels and recycled glass.
$50 per student per session, 4 student minimum. All materials are supplied. Each student will create at least one work per session.

BASIC AND ADVANCED GLASS CLASSES: In these classes, you will learn to create from recycled and re purposed glass sources and special Thompson Enamels. Recycling 'glass into art' techniques will be taught by accomplished artist and sculptor Joseph Drury. While these techniques can be applied to enameling on any surface, the primary focus will be on learning how to apply enamels to glass for the creation of sculpture, jewelry, window hangings, bowl and plate forms. These workshops are suitable for all students beginning through advanced. Beginning students learn safety, proper ways to apply and fire the enamel. Each student produces at least one artwork per session!

All materials supplied for the workshops. Workshops are limited to 12 students per session.

Art On The Levee is open to the public during the Levee’s retail hours of Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday, 12 – 6 p.m. There is a wide range of original glass artwork available as well as giclees, postcards and notecards. The various mediums of artwork include glass, paintings (oil, acrylic and watercolor), photography, digital art, fabric art, metal art, jewelry, and pottery.

The Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati is one of the world’s largest collections of artists under one roof. The Pendleton Art Center opened with one building in 1991. Currently the Pendleton Art Center Complex in Cincinnati is comprised of four buildings housing over 200 artists. The Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati opens its doors to the public every Final Friday of the month from 6 – 10 p.m. At this time the public can purchase artwork directly from the artists in their studios. In early 2001, the Pendleton opened a second location in Rising Sun, IN. The Rising Sun location houses 20 artist studios which are open to the public Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and open late on First Fridays. The Ashland Pendleton Art Center will be celebrating its 2nd anniversary this June. This location houses over 40 artists from the Eastern Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia areas.
